Small meals for smaller waists

email

Commonly seen among my clients are indigestion problems. This is due to poor meal planning and eating large meals at irregular times. Many skip breakfast and go for a large lunch to compensate and still heavier dinner  to make up with the feeling of tiredness after work. This slows down the metabolism and I see the most common symptoms “afternoon slump” and “over stuffed feeling” after dinner.

Sleep is hampered at night due to the body trying very hard to break down food which makes one feel sleepy and groggy in the morning. Energy levels dip low and you feel you have a life of a snail.

Now you may be wondering what is metabolism. It is the rate at which your body converts fuel into energy.

When there are more fat cells in your body, the metabolism slows down. Having a high metabolism is a boon to all. But you can boost your metabolism by eating right and eating small meals. Small 6 meals per day can help. Small frequent meals keeps your metabolism burning throughout the day even when you are resting. When your metabolism increases, the calorie burn also increases.

What happens when you eat 2-3 large meals? You body thinks that a starvation mode is going to start hence will not effectively burn off rather will start storing it as fat thinking that no food will be provided for a long period.

Eat small wholesome balanced meals to lose weight. Avoid junk in these meals. Ensure that these small meals are balanced with enough carbs and protein so that you have nutritious meals and a healthier waist line.
