Tip #5 for the day
Go for proteins
In a new study from Purdue University, dieters who got 30% of their calories from protein preserved more lean body mass while losing weight than those who got only 18%.
The more lean body mass you hold on to, the more calories you burn while you rest. Also, protein takes about four hours to digest and slower digestion means you feel full longer.
Protein contains a high level of the amino acid, leucine.
Working with insulin, it stimulates protein synthesis in the muscle, which revs metabolism and keeps you trim.
A smart way to boost protein intake is to include lean protein like fat free chicken and fish or cottage cheese in your meals.
These will force your body to work at processing them so that you expend more calories than you put on.
