Eating Healthy – Adding vegetables to your diet

Go ahead and add some color to your meals! Eat a varied diet of Greens, Blues, Purples, Yellows, Oranges, Whites and Reds. Remember: Not just an apple but a whole rainbow of fruits and  vegetables keeps the doctor away.

These are a few tips to include vegetables in your diet.

  • Have a fruit for breakfast, or better still, eat a fruit whenever you feel the urge to snack.
  • Add fresh fruits to Cereal and Milk.
  • A Healthy mid-morning snack can be salad or a fruit milkshake.
  • Eat lots of vegetables for both lunch and dinner.
  • Avoid overcooking the vegetables. An ideal vegetable preparation retains the color (and the benefits) of the raw vegetables.
  • In winters, capitalize on the flush of green leafy vegetables. In summers, eat lots of Mangoes and Melons.
  • Add lots of vegetables to soups.
  • Make colorful salads part of all main meals.
  • Add extra vegetables to every dish with a variety of vegetables.
  • Add vegetables to pasta and sandwiches.
  • Try new combination of vegetables.
