Do we really need SUGAR?

Sugar is ” Not just empty calories but a whole lot of trouble”.
Sugar is a concentrated source of energy and provides 4 calories per gram. That is all. Sugar contains no real nutrition. Our body does not need sugar. If we never had another teaspoon of sugar on our life, our health will not be affected even in the slightest. So, from a health point of view, sugar is valueless. Moreover, it ruins appetite, intensifies sugar cravings and adds on weight.

It is true that sugary foods provide short term energy boost. Sugar actually effects the same part of the brain as heroin or Morphine. However, the subsequent sugar low, causing lack of energy, fatigue, depression, aches and illness, is is equally fast. Sugar lover constantly ride a roller coaster of feeling high and feeling low but do not collect the low feeling as an after affect of eating sugar. over time, we become more and more dependent on sweet foods to give us an emotional high.
