Impossible as it may sound, research shows that it is possible to shrink the stomach back to its original size.
Gelibter and colleagues at Columbia university measured stomach capacity in obese patients before and after they were given a 600 calorie diet for 4 weeks. They found that a 27 percent reduction in the size of their stomach among these dieters. Furthermore these dieters felt the sensation of stomach ‘fullness’ at a 36 percent smaller stomach capacity than non dieters. Along the way, they also lost about 9Kgs!
Food reduction at every meal minimizes the stomachs daily stretch and it shrinks in size overtime. At the same time, the amount of food required to make you feel fully satisfied also goes down. So it is possible to shrink your stomach after all.
