Are very low calorie diets effective?

email

lowcalCalories are always an enigma for most of my clients. Most of them are interested in knowing the amount of calories they need to consume. Calorie intake can make or break the goal needed especially in weight loss diets. But very low calorie diets ie. below 1000 calories is not recommended. If you eat very less, you will not get enough nutrients to nourish your body. The body can go into a starvation mode making you store more fat in your body. This can also make you listless and tired and can slow down your metabolism.

One should eat atleast 1200 calories and should include all food groups such as whole grain, fruits and vegetables, dairy preferably low fat, lean meat and fish, nuts and seeds and enough water.

Do you feel crash diets have helped you? Let me know your comments.
