A Boon in the form of Broccoli

A Boon in the form of Broccoli

Broccoli, a well know vegetable and I say eating it is a very good idea. It is a power house of various vitamins and mineral yet low in calories. For 100 grams, it has just 27-30 calories. When they say the best things come in small packages, broccoli is one such veggie.

  • It is super rich in Vitamin C hence helps in the absorption of iron.
  • Being fiber rich, it is beneficial for the digestive system and helps to lower cholesterol levels.
  • It has proved to lower hormone related cancers such as breast and prostate cancer.
  • It has antioxidant properties and hence boosts your immune system with its antiviral properties and prevents cataracts.
  • This source of potassium helps to lower and maintain your blood pressure and gets rid of all the cancer causing free radicals.
  • Insulin and blood sugar levels are maintained by the chromium present in broccoli.
  • The large amount of calcium is a boon for women thereby helping to combat osteoporosis.
  • It is rich in beta-carotene, so you get a Vitamin A boost every time you eat broccoli.

But the down side is it can produce intestinal gas problems. Otherwise its a well laid boon on our platter!!! So I suggest you to include a few florets of broccoli in your stir fry recipe.
