Dont freeze the fat during winter

Winter is a time where the designer sweaters come out of the closet and you move into a warm blanket. A lovely time to cuddle in front of the warm fire with hot chocolate. But this is the time several comfort foods are used by many to stay warm. But these comfort foods generally are laden with cream and roasted chicken with cream or butter. Yes it is important to be well nourished and healthy and this can be done by just staying from artery clogging food.

A few suggestions to stay warm and fit.

  • Drinking water is considered a summer thing where you do feel thirsty but in winter water takes a back seat. Staying hydrated is very important. We may not be thirsty but our brain will signal thirst which we confuse with hunger and end up snacking. So aim for the usual 8 glasses.
  • The interest for exercise dips once it starts getting cold outside. But this does not mean it is an end to your exercise routine. You need to have a good metabolism hence do not give up your work outs.
  • Stay away from all high calorie cream laden drinks. Opt for low calorie options which will keep you warm plus help you cut down calories.
  • Don’t go overboard eating. In the cavemen times, they needed the fat deposits but in these modern times with electric fireplaces and heaters, we do not need to horde up on calories.
  • Do not forget complex carbs like fruits if any available or veggies which can keep you slim and healthy. Eat avocados and nuts which give you the healthy fats. Have warm clear soups like chicken soups which will warm you up.

Do not get sedentary and lazy. Continue to lead an active life style so that you will not need to struggle to lose the flab for summer.
