Beetroot fights cancer – A Cardio Tonic


In our search for more local and seasonal vegetables, we should not lose sight of the Beetroot, a not very attractive vegetable to look at, which has been considered to be very beneficial for health, particularly  blood, the heart and the digestive system. It has also been considered as a laxative , a cure for bad breath, coughs, headache and also as an aphrodisiac.

It is interesting, that  recently,Beetroot has been advocated as a cancer preventative and as a means of bolstering the immune system.

Beet Root is rich in many important minerals and micro nutrients. It is a nutritious vegetable having many healthy properties. The leaves of Beetroot are rich in beta-carotene, calcium and iron. And also can be eaten like spinach or any other leafy greens.

Raw beetroot and the juice obtained from it are high in carbohydrates, low in fat and is a good source of minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron,and potassium and vitamin’s, including folic acid, niacin and vitamin C. It is rich in antioxidants like betalains.

Beetroot juice is a popular component of an anti-cancer diet. It is also known as a cardio-tonic.

Beetroots beneficial effects on digestion may relieve other problems associated with the stagnation of food and food toxicity, such as skin problems ,headaches and lethargy.

So Beetroot which has a lot of health properties  can be included more frequently in your daily diet as a salad, soup or juiced together with whole grain wheat or brown rice. And let people keep guessing at your age looking at the healthy glow on your face.
