Case Files: Know your Dietitian.

Ok, So you must be wondering, What will be a Dietitians Life style? Probably eating a lot of saltless boiled vegetables, They are probably very paranoid about the nutrients in the food. Hit the gym 3 hours a day, Sweating it out, all slim and trim. Well, Thats why I came up with this column for our readers.

I am approached by many patients who take my advice on various diets, and on repeated consultations when my clients are very open to me,they are very interested in knowing about my life style and eating habits.

So I thought let me tell you about my lifestyle.

I was basically a foodie but was an active foodie. I know People visualize dietitians as people eating boiled boring food and forget the fact that we are as normal as any individual.Once I started my studies in nutrition, I took a serious call on my health. I realized when I was a teenager few years back, I was clogging my system with a lot of coke and junk food. But since I loved home cooked food, I did have the healthy and good stuff going into my system too.

But I still felt I need to rethink about my health. Now I am very serious about my lifestyle. I still eat the food that I love and enjoy, but in moderation as I believe that a moderate diet coupled with moderate exercise can help me in the long run. Making healthy choices has never been difficult for me and I try to select the same with less oil and low salt and I always snack healthy. If I have indulged in something that I should not have eaten I compensate for it the next day but by eating a little lesser and exercising more.

Exercise is an ideal part of my life. Whenever possible I hit the gym and i work out for not more than one and a half hour focusing on cardio exercises amd weight training and if I cannot make it, my work place helps me keep fit.The best thing about my work place is that there are ten floors and I love climbing the stairs. Although there is an Elevator, I prefer climbing them. It not only helps me to be fit but also helps me to plan my work and reflect on my performance. I love doing a lot of breathing exercises, pranayama and currently I am moving into yoga.

I do not believe in crash diets, skipping meals, supplement replacement meals but just believe in making right choices and sensible eating.

According to me, Live life to the fullest without any regrets and to enjoy a positive and healthy lifestyle. Visualize your self healthy and full of life whenever you can, and you will definitely move towards good health. All have a right to enjoy good health, but all it takes is to work towards it.
