Go ahead and add some color to your meals! Eat a varied diet of Greens, Blues, Purples, Yellows, Oranges, Whites and Reds. Remember: Not just an apple but a whole rainbow of fruits and vegetables keeps the doctor away.
These are a few tips to include vegetables in your diet.
- Have a fruit for breakfast, or better still, eat a fruit whenever you feel the urge to snack.
- Add fresh fruits to Cereal and Milk.
- A Healthy mid-morning snack can be salad or a fruit milkshake.
- Eat lots of vegetables for both lunch and dinner.
- Avoid overcooking the vegetables. An ideal vegetable preparation retains the color (and the benefits) of the raw vegetables.
- In winters, capitalize on the flush of green leafy vegetables. In summers, eat lots of Mangoes and Melons.
- Add lots of vegetables to soups.
- Make colorful salads part of all main meals.
- Add extra vegetables to every dish with a variety of vegetables.
- Add vegetables to pasta and sandwiches.
- Try new combination of vegetables.
